Paul Gauguin Cruises revives Moana Explorer Program for young guests in 2026 | Cruise News

Paul Gauguin Cruises (Ponant-owned brand) will once again offer its Moana Explorer Program for young travelers on 11 select summer and holiday voyages in French Polynesia aboard the ms Paul Gauguin. This complimentary program, unique among luxury cruise lines sailing Tahiti and the islands of French Polynesia, enters its sixth year in collaboration with Te mana o te moana, a foundation dedicated to marine education and conservation in the South Pacific.

Designed for children ages 6 to 15, the Moana Explorer Program offers an array of interactive, hands-on activities that immerse participants in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region. Program highlights include educational sessions on water pollution, snorkeling in lagoons alongside naturalists, volcanic hikes, and beach games with a “Survivor” theme.

Depending on the itinerary, children may also engage in underwater exploration, conduct water experiments, create natural jewelry, or partake in a treasure hunt. Cultural experiences include learning about Tahitian folklore, geology, and crafting Polynesian tattoos.

Deb Corbett, CEO of PONANT Asia Pacific said their Moana Explorer Program remains incredibly popular and this partnership ensures that children experience some of the most immersive, fun, and educational activities while discovering French Polynesia.

The Moana Explorer Program will be available on the following 2026 voyages:

  • 8-day Tahiti & the Society Islands: 3 departures from June 6th to August 8th, 2026
  • 8-day Pearls of the Society Islands & Tahiti: 3 departures from June 13th to August 29th, 2026
