Fincantieri Foundation Reveals Latest Developments – Cruise Industry News

Fincantieri has announced the latest developments made by the Fincantieri Foundation, which is expanding its mission and focusing on culture, innovation and inclusion.

The foundation was established in March 2008 and is committed to the protection of unique documents and artifacts related to civil and military shipbuilding.

Fincantieri said in a press release that the transformation bridges the past and future while fostering sustainable development and deepening connections with communities worldwide.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and general manager of Fincantieri, said: “The strength of Fincantieri lies in the balance between deep roots and a flourishing canopy, like a healthy tree.”

“With over 230 years of history, we build the future with the pride of those who evolve every day, translating the past into innovation. The Fincantieri Foundation allows us to narrate not only our roots but also the ambition of our growth, projecting us towards a sustainable, transformative future,” added Folgiero.

New developments include the appointments of new board directors Alessandra Battaglia, Loretana Cortis, Lorenza Pigozzo and Clauidio Sforza.

Another key aspect is a publishing initiative led by Professor Roberto Giulianelli, an economic historian from the Università Politecnica delle Marche.

The five-volume-series initiative details over two centuries of Italian naval engineering, from its origins during Italy’s unification to the present day.

The series debuted with “Fondazione Fincantieri. Un viaggio nella storia della navalmeccanica italiana” (“Fincantieri Foundation. A Journey Through the History of Italian Shipbuilding”).

The foundation added that it is also actively preserving history through initiatives like digitizing historical archives, creating an interactive museum and unveiling a new exhibition space at the Monfalcone Shipbuilding Museum.

In partnership with academic and institutional entities, the foundation has launched several initiatives, including scholarships, research programs and the General Claudio Graziano Award, which honors the memory of Fincantieri’s late president by supporting doctoral research.

Additionally, it introduced Italian language courses at its Monfalcone and Sestri Ponente shipyards to support cultural integration among foreign workers.

According to the press release, the program received significant demand and is now expanding.
