Port Tampa Bay Announces Two Promotions – Cruise Industry News
Port Tampa Bay (PTB) President and CEO Paul Anderson has announced the promotion of Greg Lovelace to senior vice president of marketing and business development and Jorge Torres to senior director of security and safety compliance.
The company said in a press release that Lovelace has served in various roles within the port’s Business Development Department for 28 years, most recently holding the title of vice president of business development.
Lovelace will oversee both the business development and marketing teams and focus on attracting new businesses while supporting the growth and development of existing companies.
He will also continue the efforts of outreach to beneficial cargo owners, particularly for containers and reflecting the new expanded services, and overseeing other cargo activity and cruise. He will report to Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, Raul Alfonso.
Lovelace serves on the Executive Committee of the Gulf Seaports Marine Terminal Conference and previously served as their chairman. He also serves as the CSCMP Central Florida Roundtable president and previously served on the board in various capacities.
The company also announced that Jorge Torres is receiving a promotion to senior director of security and safety compliance.
Torres will be responsible for developing, directing and enforcing port regulatory compliance mandates and port security rules, managing port security grant projects/development programs and facilitating the training of port staff in matters related to security and safety.
According to the press release, he will continue to report to the Vice President of Security, Mark Dubina.
Torres served 14 years on active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard, transitioning to the reserve component in 2009. He retired in 2019 as a senior chief, having served 24 years. Before joining PTB, he was a facility security manager and was designated facility security officer at the Port of Houston Authority.
He is board-certified as a Certified Protection Professional by the American Society for Industrial Security International.
Jorge is an alumni of Leadership Tampa Bay class of 2018, a member of the American Association of Port Authorities Security Committee, an executive board member of the Tampa/Saint Petersburg Area Maritime Security Committee and a member of the national and local chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security.
In 2021, Jorge was elected to serve as a board member on the Propeller Club of Tampa executive board.
