Norwegian Announces Updates to Bliss and Breakaway – Cruise Industry News

The Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Breakaway are set to undergo drydock updates to offer new and expanded experiences, including a new cinema, dining venue and outdoor recreational area, according to a press release.

New onboard experiences will include the Silver Screen Bistro, an immersive cinema and dining venue, and Horizon Park (pictured above), a new outdoor recreational area. Popular dining venues like Cagney’s Steakhouse and Teppanyaki will also be expanded, and accommodations, including The Haven by Norwegian, will be enhanced.

“At Norwegian Cruise Line, our guests and what they value most is critical in order for us to develop experiences. Our goal is to provide them their very own best vacation,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

“From creating new concepts that offer more outdoor gathering spaces for making memories with friends and family, to expanding dining options that consistently bring joy to our guests across our fleet, we’re providing more to do and more to enjoy for all types of travelers.”

Following its drydock from January 17 to February 2, 2025, guests aboard the Norwegian Bliss can enjoy Horizon Park, a new outdoor gathering space offering lawn games like cornhole and giant Jenga, along with reclining loungers for sunbathing.

Accommodations in The Haven by Norwegian will also be updated, with the introduction of three-bedroom Premiere Owner’s Suites, featuring three-and-a-half baths, a dining room with views of The Haven Horizon Lounge and refurbished living areas. Additionally, 24 new balcony staterooms and two new club balcony staterooms will be added.

The ship’s public areas will see popular dining venues expanded, including Cagney’s Steakhouse (replacing Los Lobos), Teppanyaki (replacing Coco’s), and the addition of Palomar, a seafood restaurant which debuted on the Norwegian Prima in 2022, replacing Ocean Blue. After its drydock, Norwegian Bliss will embark on a 13-day itinerary from Southampton to Miami, followed by cruises to the Western Caribbean, Mexican Riviera and Alaska starting in April 2025.

The Norwegian Breakaway will undergo enhancements from February 19 to March 14, 2025, introducing getting several new features. Guests will enjoy the Silver Screen Bistro experience, replacing the Spiegel Tent. The new concept will offer oversized recliners and retractable tables, serving shareable handheld menu items, including dishes from Food Republic.

Like the Bliss, the Breakaway will also introduce Horizon Park, an outdoor area with 360° ocean views. The venue will feature a stage for live music and entertainment.

Additionally, the Breakaway will debut The Stadium, a family-friendly outdoor activities area, and expand Cagney’s Steakhouse to replace Moderno Churrascaria. Ocean Blue will be transformed into Palomar, and Vibe Beach Club and The Haven Sundeck will be expanded with more seating and cabanas. After the drydock, the Breakaway will operate itineraries from Barcelona and Venice to destinations such as Florence/Pisa, Palma, Cannes and Corfu.
