The Celestyal Journey has resumed service with a new livery following a planned refit in Dubai, the company said in a press release.
According to the company, the 1,260-guest ship set sail on Feb. 15 for the “Desert Days” itinerary, which sails from Doha, Qatar.
The cruise also features calls at Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Khasab and Sir Bani Yas Island, as well as an overnight stay in Dubai Marina.
After entering drydock in mid-January, the Celestyal Journey underwent a $6.8 million refit that included a new livery to match the look of its fleet mate, th eCelestyal Discovery.
The new hull design features blue and white tones, with the signature wave and stars of its new brand identity, Celestyal said.
The ship’s underwater areas were also treated and painted with silicone paint, while the power management system was updated to improve operational efficiency and performance.
The Celestyal Journey is scheduled to offer more “Desert Days” cruises through early March. The schedule includes a recently announced sailing that was added due to customer demand.
“We’re thrilled our beloved ship, the Celestyal Journey, has returned to service, looking and performing better than ever. The new livery makes it instantly recognizable as a Celestyal ship, while the technical upgrades will ensure it provides a smooth sailing experience for all who sail on her,” said Celestyal’s Chief Commercial Officer Lee Haslett.
“We’ve seen phenomenal demand for our Arabian Gulf itineraries, with our last three Doha-Doha sailings operating at full capacity. Overall, since launching the program, we’re 35% above target for sailed guests, which demonstrates a real desire to explore this beautiful part of the world on our intimate, mid-sized ships.”
After completing its inaugural season in the Middle East, the Celestyal Journey repositions to Europe for a summer deployment in Greece and the Mediterranean.
According to Celestyal, the vessel will undergo further maintenance procedures before starting the deployment on April 12, sailing roundtrip from Athens on the new “Heavenly Greece, Italy and Croatia” itinerary.
The cruise includes visits to Kefalonia, Greece; Kotor, Montenegro; Bari, Italy; Corfu, and Katakolo, Greece, and an overnight in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
