Disney Wonder to Open Cruise Season in Victoria, Canada – Cruise Industry News

Victoria will welcome its first cruise ship of the season, the Disney Wonder, on Mar. 6, 2025, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) announced in a press release.

The Disney Cruise Line ship is scheduled to arrive at 8:00 AM and depart at 5:00 PM from Pier B at The Breakwater District at Ogden Point.

Repositioning from Australia and New Zealand, the 2,700-guest vessel arrived in Victoria following a transpacific stop in Hawaii.

The Disney Wonder will visit Vancouver and Victoria before sailing on to San Diego and returning in May to start its regular cruises in Alaska, the port said.

To mark the occasion, Chief Jerome Thomas of the Xʷsepsəm Nation will provide an official Lək̓ʷəŋən welcome to the ship’s captain.

“As we embark on the 2025 cruise season, we are thrilled to welcome visitors from around the world to our vibrant city,” said Robert Lewis-Manning, CEO of the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority.

“We look forward to providing a warm, authentic welcome that showcases the rich culture and hospitality of our community.”

Following the Disney Wonder’s call, the season in Victoria gets fully underway on Apr. 4, 2025, with the arrival of Holland America Line’s Koningsdam.

“The Disney Wonder’s arrival marks an early start to the season, as cruise ships deployed in other parts of the world typically return to the West Coast in April to prepare for their voyages to Alaska,” GVHA stated.

Victoria is expecting 320 cruise ship visits in 2025, including maiden calls from Hapag-Lloyd’s Europa 2 and the Villa Vie Odyssey.

The port is also scheduled to welcome Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas during its first season in Alaska, as well as the Caribbean Princess and Oceania Cruises’ Riviera.

According to GVHA, other notable vessels visiting Victoria this year include the Seven Seas Explorer, the Norwegian Joy, the Norwegian Encore and the Norwegian Bliss.
