Norwegian Breakaway Kicks Off European Season After Drydock – Cruise Industry News

The Norwegian Breakaway recently resumed service following a major refurbishment project in France.

After crossing the Atlantic earlier this year, the ship arrived at the Damen shipyard in Brest in late February.

The vessel spent over three weeks in drydock to undergo technical maintenance and class work, and saw a number of hotel updates.

The updates included various new venues, including the Silver Screen Bistro.

Replacing the Spiegel Tent specialty restaurant, the new space offers oversized recliners and retractable tables, serving shareable menu items from Food Republic.

The 4,000-guest ship also saw the addition of Horizon Park, a venue with 360° ocean views that debuted on the Norwegian Bliss earlier this year.

According to Norwegian, the outdoor venue was designed as a gathering point for guests and offers a stage for live music and entertainment.

The Breakaway also underwent changes to its food and beverage offerings, with the expansion of popular specialty venues and the debut of new restaurants.

The Breakaway welcomed guests back onboard on March 14, 2025, kicking off a repositioning cruise to the Mediterranean.

Sailing from Southampton to Barcelona, the 14-night itinerary features visits to destinations in England, Belgium, France, Spain and Portugal.

The 2013-built ship is then set to offer nine- to 11-night cruises in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean.

The itineraries feature ports of call in Spain, Greece, Italy, France, Croatia and more, including Ibiza, Corfu, Livorno, Cannes and Dubrovnik.

After completing its summer schedule in Europe, the Norwegian Breakaway is set to reposition to North America in late November.

As part of its 2025-26 winter deployment, the ship offers eight- to 12-night cruises departing from New York City.

Sailing to the Caribbean, Florida and the Bahamas, the itineraries feature visits to a wide range of destinations in the region, such as Nassau, San Juan, St. Thomas and Great Stirrup Cay.
