Port Rønne (Bornholm Island, Denmark) Enhances Infrastructure with New Cruise Pier
Port Roenne (Bornholm Island Denmark) is advancing its cruise infrastructure with the construction of a new 374-meter-long, 11-meter-deep pier, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025. This development aims to accommodate larger vessels and enhance operational efficiency within the harbor.
The new pier will supplant the berths utilized over the past 3 years, which are being reallocated to support other commercial activities. Additionally, modifications to the existing cruise pier are underway, including the removal of inner breakwaters and the extension of the southern outer breakwater. These alterations are designed to improve navigational conditions by creating a calmer harbor basin.
Situated approximately a 15-minute walk from Destination Bornholm’s visitor center and about 20 minutes from the city center’s main square, the new pier is strategically positioned to facilitate passenger access to local attractions. The port anticipates 70 cruise calls this year, marking a 150% increase compared to 2015 figures.
In line with environmental considerations, a working group has been established to explore the implementation of Onshore Power Supply (OPS) at the new pier. While a definitive timeline has not been set, port authorities have expressed confidence in the project’s eventual realization.
