On May 12, 2025, Victory Cruise Lines (now part of AQV-American Queen Voyages) christened its vessel, Victory II, at Chicago’s Navy Pier, marking the first overnight cruise ship christening at this iconic location. The ceremony, led by founder and CEO John Waggoner, featured his granddaughter, Molly Applegate, as the ship’s godmother, continuing a family tradition in maritime christenings.
Victory II is a 300-foot-long, 190-passenger vessel with a crew of 92, designed for upscale cruising experiences on the Great Lakes. Its itineraries include stops at destinations such as Mackinac Island, Sault Ste. Marie, Detroit, Cleveland, Niagara Falls, and Toronto, offering passengers a comprehensive exploration of all five Great Lakes.
Victory Cruise Lines is currently the only cruise line with exclusive docking rights at Navy Pier, enhancing Chicago’s profile as a cruise destination. The line plans to operate 33 sailings in 2025, with voyages ranging from 10 to 15 nights, departing from cities including Chicago, Toronto, Milwaukee, and Montreal.
