Adora Cruises and Shanghai Mobile Sign Strategic Cooperation – Cruise Industry News

Adora Cruises signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Mobile, the company announced in a press release.

According to the statement, the partnership aims to leverage 5G communication technology to provide network communication services for Adora’s second newbuild, the Adora Flora City.

By enhancing the convenience of communications for guests onboard, the company said it aims to transform the vessel into “a globally leading smart ship.”

Through their collaboration, Adora Cruises and Shanghai Mobile will also work together to apply new communication technologies onboard the Flora City, the company added.

The new vessel will see the introduction of foundational communication and digital transmission services, as well as Internet of Things (IoT) and live broadcasting via 5G technologies.

In addition, both parties will work together to create demonstration research projects focused on introducing new technologies to the cruise field.

One of the planned studies aims to use big data in order to implement an artificial intelligence (AI) that will offer personalized services for guests onboard.

“With the continuous advancement of technologies such as 5G, AI, and the Internet of Things, innovative digital technologies will provide us with diverse cultural and travel experiences, creating more application scenarios,” Adora Cruises stated.

“After being the first to deploy 5G network operations on the Adora Magic City with Shanghai Telecom, we are honored to reach this strategic cooperation with Shanghai Mobile, injecting new technological momentum into the construction of Adora Flora City,” the company added.

“We aim to provide users with high-quality communication services and digital experiences. Our collaboration with Adora Cruises will mark a new starting point in exploring the applications of 5G and smart technology,” Shanghai Mobile said.

Set to enter service in 2027, the new Adora Flora City is currently being built at one of CSSC’s shipyards in Shanghai, China.

A sister to the 2023-built Adora Magic City, the 5,300-guest vessel will offer cruises departing from Guangzhou.
