Aurora Expeditions Unveils New 2026-27 Antarctica Season – Cruise Industry News

Aurora Expeditions has announced its 2026-27 Antarctica season, featuring 27 voyages, including special edition voyages, according to a press release.

The special edition expeditions cater to adventure seekers, photographers, science enthusiasts and women travelers, offering a variety of experiences.

New itineraries include the 10-day “Taste of Antarctica” itinerary, and specialized voyages like the Women’s Only trip, Photography Expeditions and New Scientist Discovery Tours.

Ranging from nine to 34 days, the expeditions visit destinations like the Antarctic Peninsula, East Antarctica, the Ross Sea, South Georgia and the Falklands~Malvinas. Popular itineraries such as “Spirit of Antarctica” and “South Georgia, Falklands and Antarctic Odyssey” will also return.

This season truly reflects our commitment to creating transformative journeys that leave both our travelers and the destinations they visit enriched.”

The Photography Expeditions, led by expert photographers, feature experiences like Zodiac cruises, onshore excursions and presentations to help guests refine their skills with either professional cameras or smartphones.

Nigel Danson will lead a 12-day photography workshop from Punta Arenas/Ushuaia aboard the Greg Mortimer in February 2026. In January 2027, Scott Portelli will guide a 12-day expedition from Punta Arenas/Ushuaia aboard the Sylvia Earle.

Highlights include:

  • Spirit of Antarctica: In Partnership with New Scientist Discovery Tours: 12 days, Dec. 7-18, 2026, from Ushuaia/Ushuaia aboard the Douglas Mawson. The journey to the Antarctic Peninsula includes expert-led workshops and wildlife encounters.
  • Wild Antarctica Featuring the Weddell Sea: 13 days, March 2-14, 2027, from Punta Arenas/Ushuaia aboard the Sylvia Earle. The itinerary explores the Weddell Sea’s ice, wildlife and ancient fossils.
  • Antarctic Women’s Expedition: Fly the Drake: 10 days, Feb. 23-March 4, 2027, from Punta Arenas/Punta Arenas aboard the Sylvia Earle. The female-led voyage celebrates pioneering women in conservation.
  • Taste of Antarctica: 10 days, Feb. 9-18, 2027, from Ushuaia/Ushuaia aboard the Douglas Mawson and March 11-20, 2027, aboard the Greg Mortimer. The sailings explore Antarctica’s wildlife and landscapes.
