MSC World America to Debut ‘Dirty Dancing in Concert’ – Cruise Industry News

The MSC World America will feature a wide range of entertainment when it debuts this April, including the first-ever at-sea Dirty Dancing in Concert.

This immersive 90-minute live-to-film concert will bring the beloved Lionsgate movie to life with live singers, dancers and musicians.

Each sailing will offer multiple chances to experience Dirty Dancing in Concert, including a matinee on sea days. The 90-minute live-to-film concert features a band and singers performing classic songs in sync with the movie, while dancers enhance the atmosphere. The event concludes with a Dirty Dancing-themed afterparty that continues into the night.

In addition to Dirty Dancing in Concert, the ship will offer a variety of entertainment options, ranging from stage shows and live music to various activities and games, ensuring a memorable experience for guests of all ages.

Steve Leatham, vice president of entertainment at MSC Cruises, said: “Delivering a diverse entertainment lineup for every type of holidaymaker is central to creating an unforgettable cruise experience. MSC World America provides an incredible platform to push the boundaries of entertainment at sea, and we’re introducing some exciting new concepts and productions.

“Our headline entertainment experiences, Dirty Dancing in Concert in the World Theatre and Queen Symphonic in the Panorama Lounge, will be unlike anything previously seen on our ships, resonating with both American and international audiences. These are just the beginning of our extensive entertainment options, which include an adults-only Comedy Club, authentic Duelling Pianos, and interactive family game shows. The onboard entertainment truly must be seen to be believed.”

The ship’s World Theatre will also introduce several new theatrical productions, including:

  • Odyssey, an acrobatic spectacle inspired by Homer’s Odyssey.
  • Momentous, a large-scale illusion show, created in collaboration with Twins FX, known for their work on productions like Back to the Future and Doctor Who.
  • Hall of Fame, a live pop concert celebrating the music of pop icons.

In the Panorama Lounge, guests can enjoy two shows:

  • Queen Symphonic, a live concert experience blending Queen’s greatest hits with a 36-piece orchestra.
  • Cinesonic, a concert featuring popular movie songs and cinematic scores, enhanced by motion graphics and live performances.

Additionally, travelers aboard the World America will witness surprise performances at the Street Theatre, with pop-up events by renowned performers throughout the cruise.

For immersive activities, Luna Park will serve as the entertainment hub, offering e-gaming, dance classes, family game shows and themed experiences. Daytime activities will also include enrichment talks and virtual reality experiences.
