Perfect Day Mexico Expected to Welcome More Guests Than CocoCay – Cruise Industry News
Royal Caribbean Group expects its new Perfect Day destination in Mexico to significantly surpass the number of visiting guests at its Bahamas private destination, CocoCay.
Located on Mexico’s Mayan Riviera, Perfect Day Mexico will open in 2027, utilizing some of the infrastructure of the current Costa Maya cruise port.
“We think that, ultimately, the volume that we will take to Perfect Day Mexico will far exceed what we’re taking into CocoCay,” Royal Caribbean International’s CEO Michael Bayley said during the company’s fourth quarter and year-end earnings call.
Highlighting its strategic position in the Western Caribbean, Bayley emphasized Royal Caribbean’s plans to turn the new private destination into a hub for vessels in the region.
“We’re thinking big. And we’ve got some big ships coming. We’ve got Icon-class vessels coming online pretty much one every year. Now we’ve got Galveston and Texas and the opportunity regionally from Texas,” he said.
According to Royal Caribbean Group’s CFO Naftali Holtz, Perfect Day at CocoCay is expected to welcome approximately 3.5 million guests in 2025.
As part of its strategic plan to expand private destinations and exclusive experiences, Royal Caribbean is set to open the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island later this year.
The new private beach club in Nassau is also expected to attract a significant number of guests, Holtz noted.
“The volume will be around 1 million to 1.5 million guests when it’s fully operational,” he said, adding that the product will fill a business gap in Nassau.
“Obviously, there are fewer scale opportunities, but it’s still a very efficient operation. Margins will be quite attractive. It’s going to be a very profitable business,” Holtz added.
Royal Caribbean also plans to open a second exclusive beach club in 2026, with the Royal Beach Club Cozumel in Mexico.
